East Tennessee Wedding Photography by Jyn Allen Photography » East Tennessee Wedding and Portrait Photography

Trevor contacted me on facebook a while back about scheduling a session for him and his girlfriend. It’s not very often that I get a boyfriend scheduling photos. Well, I’m pretty sure that’s never happened. Lol. My eyes lit up and my brain started working and I thought ‘omg, he’s going to propose.’ I had to ask because I NEEDED to know. Yes! That was the plan. I was soooo excited. Who doesn’t want to capture a proposal? I thought it was awesome that Trevor thought to hire a photographer to capture the moment. What a fun thing to be able to look at years down the road. We done the session like a typical couples session and Morgan had no idea. At one point, I made up some lame excuse to talk to Trevor to find out if he was ready. I honestly don’t even remember what I said. Haha! In order for Trevor to get ready, I had Morgan do this ridiculous thing with a quilt and I’m like “oh… it will look so good.” Nope. It won’t. I’m a liar. I just wanted your back turned so Trevor could get the ring. When Trevor proposed to Morgan, it was definitely a magical moment. Morgan had such an amazing reaction and I’m so glad I was there clicking away. The session got even better after the proposal. I love so many of their images that it was hard to chose what to post. Is it okay to post an entire session? I cannot wait for their wedding in October. I know it’s going to be fun and full of love.

I’ve managed to let blogging fall by the wayside. I’m getting back in gear. Prepare yourself for a lot of posts from me. It’s been ages since I’ve had time to blog a session. I’m excited to get back to it.

First up is Erica and Charles’ engagement session. They wanted  something outdoorsy so we chose Bays Mountain. I love that place! One of my previous engagement sessions there was photobombed by a deer. How cool is that?P I NP I NP I NP I NP I NP I NP I NP I NP I NP I N

If you missed my sold out Mommy + Me mini sessions last week, you’re in luck! It rained nonstop for days so they had to be rescheduled AND I decided to open up another date! The Mommy + Me mini sessions will be on May 6th and 7th on our farm in Rogersville. This is a fantastic opportunity to get in the photos with your children. I only offer mini sessions a couple times a year and they are deeply discounted. Don’t miss your chance! Contact me to schedule your session time.

As 2017 continues to pass us by, I’m wondering what wedding trends we will see this year and which ones are here to stay. If I had to choose one trend that will become a norm for weddings, it’s different dresses for the Bridesmaids. No more matchy matchy.

If you’re a bride planning your wedding, you should think about letting your Bridesmaids pick their own dresses and styles. I, personally, love when the dresses are different colors but are in the same color palette. They also look good if they are in the same color but different styles. The reason I’m in love with this trend is the Bridesmaids can pick dresses that fit them! We don’t all have the same cookie cutter body so what looks good on Vanessa isn’t going to look the same on Stephanie. I’ve noticed how much more comfortable Bridesmaids are when they get to pick their own dress style. You don’t see them constantly pulling and tugging on an ill fitting dress. When you’re comfortable in what you’re wearing, it’s going to make better photographs because you don’t have everyone trying to stay in certain stiff poses to keep the dress in line. No more boobies flopping out if you bend in for a tight, huggy group shot!

Deciding to have your Bridesmaids pick their own dress can also be a huge money saver. They are able to find dresses at ModCloth and the thrift store! It’s definitely something you shold consider. I’m going to leave you with an image of Mindy and her Bridesmaids because they executed the look perfectly.

  • Lesley - Wow! They did such a great job coordinating that! I must admit I wasn’t that flexible with my bridesmaids for my wedding…matching outfits but I am letting them pick their own shoes and accessories… tutu skirts and lace tops to be exact. I love it when people go non-traditional. This bride did a great job thinking outside the box but it’s still so well put together! I visited Tennessee recently and man is that background beautiful! You’re a great photographer, keep it up and I love your blog posts!ReplyCancel
