You’re probably here because you’re planning a wedding and looking for advice. Well, I’m here to give it to you. You’ve probably heard timeline over and over. You’re thinking I have no idea how to do a wedding timeline because I’ve never had a wedding before! Don’t worry. I got you. I always make a timeline for my wedding clients.
You may be wondering why is a timeline so important and can’t we just wing it? No. You don’t wanna wing it. I mean. I guess, technically, you could wing it but we don’t want that. A timeline is important because it keeps everyone on time! It will let everyone involved in your wedding know when they are needed. You won’t have to wait on your brother for family portraits because he knows exactly what time he needs to be there. A wedding timeline keeps everything on schedule. If something runs over schedule, it makes it easier to see if time can be made up elsewhere. I have my timeline with me at all times, and I will always remind you of it to try to keep the day on track. We gotta make sure you get all of those awesome photos with you and your new spouse! So any time I see that the day may be heading off schedule, I’ll let you know, “Hey. You have First Look in 20 minutes so you need to start getting your dress on in the next couple of minutes.” But if it does go off schedule, no worries. Don’t freak. It’s okay. I promise. It’s a wedding. Sometimes they’re a little late, y’all. Nothing happens without the wedding couple because it’s all about you! We will move things around on the fly, and I can knock out your family and bridal party photos in no time. I got you.
Another fun bonus of a timeline is you can use it as an excuse if you don’t want to do something. Haha! “Uncle Joe, I know you want to take a photo of me doing *insert something crazy* but we have a tight schedule set by the photographer for our photos. We will come back to that if we have a chance later.” I will be your fall guy. For real. Blame me. That’s okay. I know you don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings.
A timeline is going to help you have a smooth wedding day. You’ll know what time you’re having photos, what time you’re doing your first dance, cutting the cake, etc. Everyone involved in your wedding day will know what time they need to be where. It makes it easier.
I will work with you to create your timeline for your wedding photography. I will ask you a few questions and send over a draft of the day for you to look at. We want to make the most out of our time together to make sure you get the photos you want. We can make changes together to fit what’s important to you. Having a wedding timeline will give you one less thing to worry about.
